The light is an absolute MUST for any pet owner. I have two large breeds and this is a lifesaver
When I saw my vet use 'dog' clippers on our cats in his office it confirmed my suspicions that commercial marketing dictated the manufacturer's decision to label their product 'dog' clippers. Add to that my decades of experiencing clipping our many cats' claws with Revlon 'human' clippers. Nail clippers, claw clippers, dog, cat, or human, trimming a feline's claws is usually a task dreaded by both the cat and the cat's human caregiver. Any feature that would aid in the process would be helpful and appreciated. With my age and failing eyesight, the need for light on the subject became necessary. So, a few years ago I started hauling in a portable work-bench lantern so I could see my cats', Sophie's and Lily's, claws clearly enough to avoid cutting my fur babies' claw quick and having to get clean towels and my styptic pencil to stop the bleeding. The problem with the lantern, unfortunately, is my cats' hiding out in far away places in an associative response upon seeing the lantern. Having to find the girls, then pry them off a carpet just made the whole affair even more dreadful for them, and me. But, voila! Then came the Swissklip Dog Nail Clippers with its built in light. Boy, have these clippers saved the day. Sophie and Lily don't see the clippers in my pocket and now don't head for the hills the way they did associating the sight of the shop lantern with the act of cutting their claws. And, even better than the lantern, Swissklip's Dog Nail Clippers pinpoint the light directly upon the tip of the claw. This focus, of course, is better for me to see what I'm doing and avoid harm to my kitties, but it also doesn't freak Sophie or Lily out with a glaring flood light in their furry faces as if they were being interrogated at a police headquarters. These clippers are great. I even gave one to our daughter for her five cats.
